Joshua vs Fury Parking: Avoid Cardiff’s City Centre Queues

Joshua vs Fury is the night boxing fans have waited years for. Spending the early hours queuing to leave a city centre car park would be a miserable way to finish it.

Plan your journey home before you book

If you’re driving to Principality Stadium on Friday 11 December 2026, think about the journey home when you choose your parking. A space close to the stadium can look tempting, but busy approach roads, multi-storey exit queues and late-night collection arrangements all deserve a closer look.

Our recommendation: pre-book at Canton Rugby Club, approach from the M4 via Junction 33, and walk into the centre.

Why city centre parking could become a nightmare

A major stadium event on a Friday in December is a good reason to keep your car away from central Cardiff. On the way in, you could be sharing the roads with commuters, Christmas shoppers and people heading out for the evening. After the boxing, a stadium crowd will be making its way home.

With a multi-storey, getting back to your car is only the start. You still have to join the queue down the ramps, merge with cars from other floors and reach the exit. Then you need to get onto the surrounding roads.

That convenient-looking space can feel considerably less convenient when you’re sitting behind a line of brake lights in the early hours.

There’s the parking itself to consider, too. Ramps, tight turns and concrete pillars can make a multi-storey an awkward end to a long drive, particularly in a larger car. If squeezing around corners and manoeuvring between pillars sounds familiar, this is a good night to choose a different setup.

Parking outside the centre gives you a way to avoid those multi-storey bottlenecks. It also lets you cover the last part of the journey on foot, with your space already booked.

Joshua vs Fury parking at Canton Rugby Club

Canton Rugby Club on Lawrenny Avenue, Cardiff, CF11 8BR offers pre-bookable parking for £30 per car through Front Row Parking.

Front Row Parking’s measured walk to Principality Stadium is 23 minutes. Apple Maps and Google Maps give estimates of around 29–30 minutes, so allow roughly half an hour and extra time for crowds and stadium entry. You can compare the area in our Principality Stadium parking guide.

The booking page recommends M4 Junction 33 to avoid approaching through the city centre. Follow the supplied directions and check current travel advice before setting off. Traffic will still depend on conditions across Cardiff, but choosing Canton means you can avoid taking your car into the central multi-storey system.

You can collect your car after the fight

This is particularly important for Joshua vs Fury. The stadium’s official event page says the main bout is scheduled for the early hours of the morning. Plan for a return to your car on Saturday 12 December, rather than assuming an ordinary Friday evening finish.

At Canton Rugby Club, the midnight deadline is for arriving, not collecting your car. Overnight collection is available after the fight, including at 2am, 3am or later. Those are collection examples, rather than confirmed fight finishing times.

  • Opens: 6pm on Friday 11 December. Plan your stadium arrival around this opening time.
  • Latest arrival: midnight on Friday night, as Saturday 12 December begins.
  • Collection: available after the fight; collect before noon on Sunday 13 December.
  • Toilets: available until 11pm on Friday, with no access after the bout.
  • Booking: enter the correct vehicle registration at checkout and read the terms, including the stated no-refunds policy.

Book your parking before you travel

Give the journey home as much thought as the journey in. A booked space, a walk to the stadium and clear overnight collection arrangements take several uncertainties out of a very late night.

Check the booking page for current availability and the organiser’s latest event information before travelling. The stadium currently lists the event as subject to licence.
